What kind of cases does Ciulla & Donofrio, LLP handle?
We are a commercial litigation law firm focused on resolving complex business disputes. Our core practice areas include construction law, business litigation, municipal law, contract disputes, real estate tax appeals, and civil litigation. We represent businesses and municipalities throughout Connecticut and beyond.

Where is your law firm located?
Our office is located in North Haven, Connecticut. We proudly serve clients with legal services needs across the state, providing experienced legal counsel tailored to their specific needs.

What is construction litigation?
Construction litigation involves resolving disputes that arise during a construction project. Disputes on construction projects include contract breaches, payment disputes, construction defects/quality of work disputes, delays, and more. Our attorneys are experienced in representing contractors, subcontractors, owners, suppliers, and developers in a wide range of disputes in all Connecticut courts, as well as in arbitration and mediation.

My company hasn’t been paid for work on a project. What can I do?
If you are facing a non-payment issue, there are several legal remedies available, such as filing a mechanic’s lien (private projects), asserting a payment bond claim (public projects), or pursuing a breach of contract claim. Compliance with applicable contract documents and laws is essential. We can help you understand your rights, evaluate your options, and determine the most effective and efficient action to recover payment through our construction payment dispute services.

Do you provide Arbitration and/or Mediation services?
Our firm regularly represents businesses and municipalities in alternative dispute resolution proceedings, including arbitration (binding) and mediation. In addition, Jeff Donofrio regularly serves as an arbitrator and mediator of commercial contract, construction, and other business disputes.

My business requires non-litigation services. Can you help?
Yes. We represent businesses as outside general counsel in multiple industries. We provide a wide range of general business law advice and provide tremendous value to this group of clients.

What is a real estate tax appeal?
A property tax appeal is a formal process to challenge the assessed value of your real property. We handle appeals of commercial and industrial property valuations. If your property has been over-assessed, our attorneys can guide you through the appeal process to seek a reduction.

How does your firm assist municipalities?
We provide a wide range of legal services to towns and governmental bodies. Our municipal law practice includes serving as the Town Attorney for three municipalities, serving as the Assistant Town Attorney for a municipality, and representing over a dozen municipalities as outside or special counsel. We handle a broad range of matters, running the full gamut of municipal law issues. We are especially known and called upon for our municipal construction and procurement expertise.

How much does it cost to hire an attorney from your firm?

Hourly rates are only part of the equation; because of our experience, expertise, responsiveness and commitment to our clients, we are highly efficient and enjoy long-term relationships with our clients.
